What your job is likely to cost, and why

Most quotes in this trade are a single number with no working shown, which is why three of them never agree. This builds the number by addition and shows every line — including the site attendance minimum nobody advertises, and the four loadings that turn a cheap quote into an expensive variation.

What is the job?
How much of it?
How is the access?
When can the work happen?
What finish has to be put back?
Where is the job?

Indicative estimate — not a quote

Line-by-line indicative estimate
LineLowHigh
Site attendance minimumCharged on every job. Nobody advertises this and everybody charges it.$450$900
Leaking crack in a concrete wall or slab — 8 linear metres of crack$200–$500 per linear metre$1,600$4,000
Patch and make good the drill holes$160$400
Indicative range$2,210$5,300

Excluding GST. Long repetitive runs on one site drop toward the bottom of the band. A single short crack prices as a minimum job, not a rate.

What pushes this up: confined space, traffic management, after-hours access, overhead work, and reinstating a finish. Those four lines are the ones that go missing from a cheap quote and reappear as a variation.

What pulls it down: long repetitive runs on one site, open access, bare concrete left as is, and being able to do the work in normal hours.

Read the working behind these rates in the 2026 cost guide, including why the quotes you are holding do not agree with each other.
