What is worth describing

Most water ingress can be narrowed down a long way before anyone attends, and these four details do most of that work.

Where the water shows: Which wall or slab, which room, and how far up it. Note that the crack you can see is often not where the water enters, so describing both faces helps.
When it happens: During rain, days after rain, or constantly. A leak that keeps running through a dry week behaves differently from one that stops, and it points at a different cause.
How fast it runs: Damp to the touch, beading, weeping, or running. Flow rate is what decides which resin family is appropriate and it is the first thing anybody quoting will ask.
What is on the other side: Retained ground, a garden bed, a driveway, another unit, or open air. Drainage and ground conditions behind the element are the cause of a large share of enquiries.

Worth reading before any quote is accepted
